Amsterdam ranks only 40th in the Economist Intelligence UnitÂ's list of the worldÂ's most expensive cities to live in, some way behind London (5th) and Zurich (7th), with Paris the most expensive city in the Euro zone.
The latest Worldwide Cost of Living Survey provides detailed information on the cost of around 140 items in over 130 cities across 90 countries. Costs compared range from food, toiletries and clothing to domestic help, transport and utility bills.
