ECE to develop new Hermes logistics center in Ansbach (DE)

ECE will develop a new logistics centre for Hermes Group in Ansbach, Germany. Located on a c. 86,000m² site close to freeway junction “Herrieden” (A6), the project will comprise two facilities. They will accommodate storage services by Hermes Fulfilment and the central processing of shipments by Hermes Einrichtungs Service, creating 600 new jobs. The investment in the development amounts to €90m. The construction start is scheduled for October 2018. It is expected that the building complex will be operational at the beginning of 2020.

The new location will specialize in logistics for furniture, large household appliances and other bulky goods, and will be used by two companies of Hermes Group. Being a storage service provider, for example for OTTO, the leading e-commerce platform for furniture in Germany, Hermes Fulfilment will operate a 53,000m² storage facility for OTTO products in Ansbach. It will be an addition to the network of Hermes Fulfilment locations, which currently consists of facilities in Hamburg, Haldensleben (Saxony Anhalt), Lohne (North Rhine Westfalia), and Ohrdruf (Thuringia). It will also feature a 15,000m² logistics hub, which will be used by Hermes Einrichtungs Service to process the goods for its clients. Further building space of 8,000m² will accommodate offices, break rooms, and building services for both companies.
