ECE & ATP start Restructuring and refurbishing Rosengårdcentret in Odense, Denmark (DK)
Rosengårdcentret, the second-largest shopping center in Denmark, has just started the most ambitious refurbishment it has ever experienced. Opened in Odense (the third largest city of Denmark on the island of Funen) in 1971, the shopping gallery today comprises a GLA of 100,000 m² and approximately 160 shops.
A restructuring of the former Kvickly hypermarket space will convert 10,000 m² of leasable area into 32 new shops with a focus on international fashion. The overall investment volume exceeds €16 million. Since its opening, Rosengårdcentret represents the ultimate shopping destination on the island of Funen.
When in March 2013 the ECE European Prime Shopping Center Fund made its market entry into Denmark with the acquisition of Rosengårdcentret and subsequently sold a 25% share to ATP in November 2013, it was the clear intention to invest into the restructuring, refurbishment, and modernization of the shopping center. The new owners secured the relevant building permit in December 2013 and have now started the construction work for the refurbishment which is set to be finalized in March 2015.
Part of the overall refurbishment concept of Rosengårdcentret is the restructuring of the former Kvickly unit into 10,000 m² of newly re-created sales area and its re-branding into the new 'Purple Zone' in line with the general color scheme of the center. The extensive refurbishment includes the reorganization and widening of the mall, an adjustment of the ceiling heights, installation of skylights and the application of a brand new design concept.
