DREI signs partnership with National University of Singapore (UAE/SG)

Dubai Real Estate Institute (DREI), the region's first specialized academic institute for real estate studies, has signed an agreement with the National University of Singapore to offer advanced education and professional development programs in real estate.

DREI and NUS will coordinate in facilitating customised graduate degrees and executive training programmes in real estate. The accord also includes a collaborative research initiative to create a high quality resource-rich environment to address the industry's problems and challenges.

The first unique leading edge programme, Successful Real Estate Development, will run from 17-22 November, 2007 and will be conducted by Professor Harold Tan of NUS who has extensive experience in the industry of a distinguished research record. Topics will focus on the dynamics of creating value, real estate market analysis, financial evaluation of development projects, acquiring development sites and financing of projects, public private partnership, and strategies for ridding the economic cycles in real estate markets.

The contract was signed by Dr. Mohamed Al Shehi, Managing Director, DREI, and Sim Loo Lee, Ex-Head of Real Estate Department, NUS.

Al Shehi said, "DREI's strategy is to partner with the best international universities to provide premium real estate education in the region. NUS is one of the top 20 universities in the world in education, learning and research. This agreement is one milestone step to developing an institute that will set a trend in real estate education in the region.

"This partnership proves to be an exceptional opportunity for real estate professionals as well as students seeking world class educational experience from an internationally recognised institution."

In addition, the agreement includes an exchange programme for academic staff, research scholars and students. Under this programme, research and coursework as well as study tours for graduate and post-graduate students will be conducted.

Sim Loo Lee, Ex-Head of Real Estate Department at NUS, said, "We are honoured to enter into a partnership with the Dubai Real Estate Institute for the training of these professionals, who are the future leaders of this industry."

The NUS faculty's proven track record of professional expertise and applied research is expected to vastly benefit the Middle East real estate industry. The programmes will also cater to the rising demand for sector-focused education in the region.
