French asset management company Corum AM has recently acquired the Novotel Amsterdam Schiphol Airport which is currently under construction in Hoofddorp. The 314-room, 4-star hotel located directly opposite the Hoofddorp train station, only 4 minutes from the Schiphol Airport terminal will open its doors before the end of this year, however Corum have already acquired the property.

Renaud des Portes de la Fosse, CEO of Corum AM, says: “Of course we know Accor very well, and Bart van de Kamp as developer and tenant has proven his ability to develop and manage great hotels. Therefore this was the perfect opportunity to acquire a beautiful new hotel on a fantastic location.”

The Novotel in Hoofddorp is a development of EFD, the development-arm of Borealis Staete BV, the parent company of Bart van de Kamp and Lodewijk van der Meulen, which started this project late 2013. EFD sold the property to Corum AM through a sale and leaseback construction. Corum paid €45.8 mln for the brand new hotel with Borealis Staete BV as the tenant and Accor as hotel operator. For Accor this means the Novotel brand returns to the Schiphol Airport area, after leaving the Novotel Badhoevedorp hotel in 2013.

Bart van de Kamp: “We are very pleased with the collaboration between us and Accor, especially on this wonderful location. We are looking forward to a long-lasting partnership. After years of building strong and pleasant relationships with brands like Marriott, Hilton and IHG, this is another big operator who we are proud to be working with. Accor has a strong position in the Dutch market and this hotel is a great addition to both our and Accor’s portfolio.”

Colliers International Hotels and Barents Krans attorneys assisted EFD in this transaction. Appelhoven Real Estate Advisors were the advisor to Corum Asset Management. Mulderblauw Architects are responsible for the design and Huib Bakker Bouw are the constructors of the hotel.
