Corporate real estate professionals to tackle Sustainability and Energy Management (EU)

Sustainability and the Corporate Real Estate sector will provide the topical theme for the second CoreNet Global France Networking Group event, which will be held in La Defense, Paris on June 7, 2011.

Sustainability is an important concern for corporate occupiers worldwide. The most recent global research undertaken by CoreNet Global and Jones Lang LaSalle into corporate occupier's attributes to sustainability revealed it to be a critical business issue for 64% of respondents, with 92% considering sustainability criteria in their location decisions. Furthermore, the number of respondents willing to pay more for green leased space jumped from 37% in 2009 to 50% in 2010.

Meanwhile, a recent autumn 2010 survey on trends in corporate energy management practices, authored by Johnson Controls Institute for Building Efficiency and partnered by CoreNet Global, showed a real enthusiasm for improving energy efficiency from among the workforce, in turn unlocking significant improvements, reduce environmental impacts and benefit the bottom line.

This second France Networking Group event, 'Towards Sustainability', will address many of these areas and more, with contributions and updates from Jones Lang LaSalle, JCI, Crédit Agricole Immobilier, and Profile.

The event will include a focus on:

• Current research on performance indicators and sustainability management
• Sustainability Certification (HQE) and BREEAM ratings in relation to the Praetorium office building in La Defense
• A detailed case study on Le Crédit Agricole and their 'Evergreen' project
• Sustainability in lead consultancy and Facilities Management

Speakers will include Franz Jenowein, Director Sustainability advisory, Jones Lang LaSalle; Armin Mayer, Program Manager, Institute of Energy Efficiency, JCI; Jean-Philippe Adam,MD, Crédit Agricole Immobilier; Christopher Holloway, President, Capital & Continental and Thomas Scheck, Director, Profile, with the event chaired by Michel Rousseau, President, CoreNet Global France Networking Group.

Nikos Liapis, spokesperson, CoreNet Global France Networking Group comments, "Clearly, there is an ever growing appetite among corporate occupiers to embrace sustainable practices. It will be a valuable exercise to see how much the attitudes of corporate real estate professionals based in France match this global body of research. We're looking forward to a very interesting discussion."

The new Networking Group is specifically designed to meet the professional needs of corporate real estate leaders based in France, offering an opportunity to learn, develop networks and share knowledge whilst benefiting from the international perspective of a global organization. Chaired by Michel Rousseau, the Group is also expected to grow membership in France though a series of learning and networking events. Further events are expected to be held in France through 2011, and CoreNet Global has also announced that its 10th annual EMEA Summit will be held in Paris, September 18-20, 2011.

The France Networking Group will form an important part of CoreNet Global's strong presence in the EMEA region, where there are already active Chapters in the Benelux, Central Europe, Middle East and the United Kingdom.
