The total leasable space of the building will be 18,000 m².

The ceremony took place at the construction site of Atrium 1 at Jana Pawla II Alley, near ONZ Roundabout in Warsaw. The building's foundation act was signed by Michal Olszewski, Vice-Mayor of the Capital City of Warsaw, Nicklas Lindberg, President of Skanska Commercial Development Europe, Waldemar Olbryk, President of Skanska Property Poland, and Krzysztof Andrulewicz, President of Skanska S.A. Apart from the foundation act, the front pages of national daily newspapers dated October 12 were placed in a special nickel tube.

"Atrium 1 is an exceptional investment, not only as far as our office projects go, but also in a CEE perspective. It is a project which carries special significance to us as it reflects very well the philosophy of our company and the direction in which we are heading in Skanska. Atrium 1 is another step towards sustainable construction and a response to the expectations of our clients: both tenants and investors" – said Waldemar Olbryk, President of Skanska Property Poland.

Innovative, energy-efficient systems applied by the developer will decrease energy consumption in the building by at least 50% compared to standard buildings, i.e. meeting Polish norms. Special tubes being part of the system of geothermal cooling and heating, used for the first time in Poland, reach as far as 200 meters below the ground. It is only one of the pioneer solutions which this exceptional office building will feature.

Construction of Atrium 1 started at the beginning of this year and its completion is scheduled for the turn of 2013 and 2014. The total leasable space of the building will be 18,000 m². Atrium 1 will have 25 stories above ground and 4 underground levels, which are built using the top-down construction method.

The building was designed by Biuro Projektow Kazimierski i Ryba sp. j. and the general contractor is Skanska S.A. The Atrium 1 project, which perfectly fits in with the character of the Warsaw city business centre, is a continuation of the building complex developed by Skanska along Jana Pawùa II Alley. The building will be located directly next to Deloitte House, which houses Skanska's Warsaw office.
