Arkesteijn has been at the TU Delft department of Real Estate and Housing since 2003, teaching and researching corporate and public real estate strategy. Prior to entering academia she was partner at Diephuis Stevens and worked as a management consultant for Starke Diekstra (now Arcadis) in the Netherlands.

Arkesteijn succeeds Flip Verwaaijen of PostNL Real Estate following an election held during the annual EMEA Summit in Paris earlier this autumn. Verwaaijen relinquished the role of Chairman this year having held it since 2009, and before that was a long serving board member at the Chapter.

In addition to the leadership announcement, the Benelux Chapter also confirmed the addition of two new board members:

  • Maril van Waes, Regional Facility Manager for Europe and IMEA, Dow Chemical Company, Netherlands
  • Bart W. Hoevers MRE, Partner Real Estate Advisory, Deloitte Financial Advisory Services B.V.

The appointments were made at the conclusion of a 'House of Commons'-style End User debate in Zaandam. During the event, Flip Verwaajen welcomed his successor to the leadership role in the Benelux region.

Accepting the appointment before an audience of more than 100 senior corporate real estate professionals, Arkesteijn thanked Verwaaijen for his commitment to the Benelux Chapter and for his exceptional work over the last two and a half years.

CoreNet Global's Benelux Chapter will hold its next event on January 19 with a New Year reception and announcement of the winner of the 2011 Student Awards competition.
