CoreNet Global debuts in Austria (AT)

CoreNet Global's Central Europe Chapter is set to explore issues such as risk management, corruption prevention and compliance, and how they relate to Corporate Real Estate, during their first ever Austrian Congress (Vienna, June 27-28, 2011).

Speakers will include Dr Franz Hofbauer from Transparency International Austria, a politically independent organization focused on the global fight against corruption; Aslan Milla of PwC Austria who will look at international trends in compliance systems; Bettina Knötzl of Wolf Theiss Attorneys-at-Law who will focus on 'dangerous gifts' and the grey areas of corporate gift giving; and Professor Alexander Redlein of TU Wein will present on the results of a management study looking at risk management in real estate.

The Congress will also include an automotive case study from Stephan Dalbeck of Variolog AG, the developer of logistics and manufacturing property, with the event hosted by Thomas Glatte and Sven Wingerter, the President and Vice President of CoreNet Global Central Europe Chapter.

Networking opportunities will also form an important part of the event, which will be preceded by a guided tour through the catacombs of TU Wein, and a networking dinner at the Jean-Nouvel designed Sofitel Vienna Stephansdom.

Thomas Glatte, President, CoreNet Global Central Europe Chapter, comments, "Compliance and risk management issues are important considerations for all businesses, and this extends to the role of the corporate real estate professional as much as any other management department. It is important to ensure that all business decisions are transparent, and that we employ excellent best practice standards.

"The Central Europe Chapter is designed to meet the corporate real estate requirements of members in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Liechtenstein, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia, and we are delighted to be holding our first Austrian event on such an important topic".

CoreNet Global's Central Europe Chapter is an important part of the organizations reach in the EMEA region, which also includes active chapters in the United Kingdom, Benelux and Middle East and a new France Networking Group.

"Compliance and Risk Management for Corporate Real Estate Managers" takes place June 27-28 at Vienna University of Technology, Austria. The Congress is sponsored by TU Wein, Steelcase and AOS Studley.
