Construction starts of new Moxy hotel at Gateway Gardens (DE)

Vastint Hospitality and Marriott International have started construction of their largest Moxy hotel to date at Gateway Gardens, by Frankfurt International Airport. The site is at Frankfurt's newest business district, within walking distance of the airport's Terminal 2.

The new lifestyle hotel brand, Moxy Hotels, aims to shake up traditional hospitality with a hotel experience aimed at 'young at heart' travellers. Moxy Frankfurt Gateway Gardens will have 307 rooms and 51 underground parking spots.

Vastint Hospitality, the owners and developers, commissioned Industriebau Imetaal to build the new scheme. It will be managed by the franchisee, Nordic Hospitality. The hotel is scheduled to be completed and to open for business in 2016.

“We are delighted to have won over Vastint and Marriot for our city quarter,” said Dr. Kerstin Hennig, managing director of Grundstücksgesellschaft Gateway Gardens. “The superb location of Gateway Gardens at Frankfurt Airport and Frankfurt’s municipal forest lends the quarter a unique dynamic that is perfectly compatible with the concept and ambition of Moxy.

With a view to the current and future passenger volumes at the airport, the hotel is urgently needed,” Dr. Hennig went on to say. Peter Andrews, managing director of Vastint Hospitality, elaborated: “The location of Gateway Gardens close to Germany’s busiest airport and on a growing business park is ideal and represents one of our most exciting projects.”

Gateway Gardens is a 'Global Business Village' in the European heartland, and with a projected gross floor area of 700,000m² on an estate of 35 hectares, one of the largest developments of any airport city in Europe. The driving force behind Gateway Gardens is the joint commitment of Fraport AG, Gross & Partner Grundstücksentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH, OFB Projektentwicklung GmbH, and the City of Frankfurt am Main. Since the completion of the first building at Gateway Gardens in 2008, 34% of the space have already been marketed. The combined workforce of the companies now based there adds up to more than 4,500 employees.
