Construction of a new mixed use office and retail complex - Metropolis - has begun. The complex is located on Leningradskoe Shosse, one of Moscow's principle thoroughfares. Metropolis has a total area of 330,000 m², of which 215,000 m² is for retail and leisure and 115,000 m² for office buildings.
The developer of the project is Capital Partners, already known for its Ritz Carlton Hotel and its two large logistics parks Pushkino and Domodedovo. Metropolis has appointed ENKA as the general contractor; Bovis Lend Lease will execute project management. Architect team consists of UK-based architects RTKL, Russian ABD and Turkish Oncuoglu. Jones Lang LaSalle is acting as the exclusive marketing broker for the project.
Opening for two office buildings totaling 40,000 m² is planned for the fourth quarter of 2007, the third office building of 40,000 m² and the retail/leisure segment to be completed in the second quarter of 2008.
Retail and leisure anchors include Perekrestok, Stockmann, Snezhnaya Koroleva, M-Video, Kinostar multiplex, Champion Bowling, and a food court for 18 restaurants and cafes. In addition, Metropolis has 3,000 parking spaces.
Metropolis is unique by its location in the northwest district, one of the most densely populated areas in the city. The demographics of this area is extremely attractive for retail development, which justifies construction of the biggest shopping center within the MKAD. Metropolis is located within 10 minutes drive from the business district of the city and 18 km from International Airport Sheremetyevo.
