Clifford Chance advises ABN AMRO and NIBC on financing High Tech Campus Eindhoven acquisition (NL)

International law firm Clifford Chance advised ABN AMRO Bank N.V. and NIBC Bank N.V. on financing part of the acquisition of the High Tech Campus Eindhoven by a consortium led by Marcel Boekhoorn from Royal Philips Electronics, a world leader in healthcare, lifestyle and lighting. Philips announced the sale of its High Tech Campus on March 29, 2012.

JP Morgan and Wells Fargo were also involved in financing the acquisition by Boekhoorn M&A B.V. The €425 million acquisition is one of the biggest real estate transactions in Dutch history.

"The sheer size of the campus and value of the acquisition makes it a unique deal. Especially when looking at the rather weak real estate market during the last couple of years in the Netherlands" said Clifford Chance counsel Jan-Joost van Rijsbergen

"The financing was due to its quite complex structure very interesting to work on. We are excited to have been able to support our clients on this important deal. Thanks to a dynamic mix of service companies, techno start-ups, innovative SME businesses, research institutes and global companies the High Tech Campus forms a remarkable knowledge hub. In an area of just one square kilometer, more than 8,000 researchers, developers and entrepreneurs work closely together developing the technologies and products of tomorrow."

Jan-Joost van Rijsbergen (Counsel – Amsterdam) led the Finance team on this transaction, which included Jasper Dijkshoorn (Associate – Amsterdam), Moussa Louizi (Trainee Lawyer – Amsterdam) and Krishna van Zundert (Candidate Civil Law Notary – Amsterdam).
