CDS completes the new UCI Multiplex in the Forum Palermo Shopping Center (IT)

On April 15, CDS delivered the UCI Multiplex inside the Forum Palermo shopping center, a cinema with seven theaters for a total capacity of over 1,200 persons. Forum Palermo (second project for the partnership with Multi Corporation after I Petali di Reggio in Reggio Emilia) occupies an area of 65,000 m² and required an investment of €190 million and nine months to complete.

At Forum Palermo, the new UCI Multiplex offers seven cinemas for Sicilian's film enthusiasts.

Palermo's largest shopping center in size within a 150-km radius of the Sicilian capital, it is an engine for the economic and social enhancement of the area: it includes an IperCoop hypermarket, a midsize DIY store, two buildings (restructured) for cultural activities and food service, seven midsize units, 110 shops and, of course, the UCI Mulitplex.

"Forum Palermo is one of the most complete projects we have built. This work also fully reflects the approach of CDS, which works as developer and general contractor, assisting retailers throughout the development process: consulting on location studies, administration, engineering, construction, and facility management," said Enzo Danesi, chairman of CDS Holding. The Palermo Multiplex is the second cinema built for UCI, after the one in the multifunctional center I Petali di Reggio, Reggio Emilia.

Since its incorporation in 1993, CDS has completed over 60 commercial structures. This track record places CDS among the Italian leaders in commercial real estate. Some of the projects represent records in commercial properties because of their characteristics and execution: the Petali in Reggio Emilia was first conversion of a stadium to a multi-functional center; the Carrefour shopping center of Pavia was completed in only six months totally within budget; the Centro Commerciale alle Valli was restructured and expanded in six months without interrupting the internal retailing activity.

CDS has assisted many of the principal retail chains, including Castorama, Unieuro (DSG Group), Zara, Decathlon, Auchan, Leroy Merlin, Hyper, Coop, MediaWorld, and Obi.

CDS Holding is an Italian company, formed in 1993, that operates exclusively in commercial real estate. CDS Holding wholly owns a group of companies specialized in the development, construction and management of commercial properties. In 2005, CDS Holding entered a joint venture to develop and operate shopping centers Italy with Multi Corporation B.V., the leading group in Europe specialized in developing large shopping centers and urban conversion projects.
