CB Richard Ellis grows EMEA Retail team by 25% (UK)

CB Richard Ellis is continuing to strengthen its international retail capability in response to growing client cross-border demand across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The team, which is now 180 strong, has seen a 25% increase in the last year. Recent highlights include a new Head of Retail for Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), the addition of a high profile retail team in CBRE Germany, and a new retail dedicated European research group.

Peter Fraunhoffer joins CBRE in a new Head of Retail role for CEE. Fraunhoffer has spent the last 11 years looking after the CEE region for German shoe retailer, Deichmann, and brings with him an unmatched understanding of the retail business. His appointment will help to satisfy growing demand from retailers and owners for better multi-market benchmarking across CEE, to help understand the relative strengths of each country.

The company has also increased its retail expertise in a number of high growth CEE local markets with new appointments in Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Russia. The region continues to represent an important growth engine for CBRE as ever more retailers look to expand East.

There have also been a series of new retail appointments in major Western European hubs. This includes the recent addition of five new recruits to CBRE Germany's retail team. All five individuals were previously at Jones Lang LaSalle and include Christian-Philipp Hass, who will be based in Hamburg and will head up Retail Agency North, and Frank Emmerich, who will head up Retail Agency West from CBRE's Dusseldorf office.

CBRE Germany's growing retail capability is now country-wide stretching across Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin, Dusseldorf and Munich, and includes retail agency, shopping center management and consulting. Dusseldorf is of particular importance as it focuses on the important Rhine-Ruhr area, which enjoys the highest population density in Germany.

Other CBRE appointments across Western Europe include new retail specialists in Spain, the Netherlands, Italy and Portugal.

To further enhance its cross-border offer, CBRE has also created a new EMEA-wide retail research capability. The group is lead by Jonathan Riches, who was appointed as Head of EMEA Retail Research earlier in the year. The latest addition is Sven Buchsteiner, who joins CBRE Germany as Head of Retail research, from DTZ. The group co-ordinates with CBRE US and Asia, to offer insight into the implications of changing market dynamics across the world for retailers and owners.

Malcolm Dalgleish, Chairman EMEA Retail at CB Richard Ellis, said, "The calibre and quantity of retail specialists wanting to join CB Richard Ellis is a clear demonstration of the increasing attractiveness of our multi-market retail proposition. Ambitious growth plans mean we now have experts in all key cities united at a local, regional and global level by our cross border team. As a result we are now unmatched in our ability to help retailers expand both within and beyond their traditional markets and provide unparalleled market knowledge across the sector."
