British Property Opportunities Fund delivers excellent returns vs. IMA property sector (UK)

The British Property Opportunities Fund, distributed in the UK by FSA-regulated Horizon Properties Capital Limited (HPC), is delighted to announce that having celebrated its third anniversary, it has delivered outstanding returns when compared against the average performance in the Investment Management Association's Property sector.

The Fund has returned 15.99% net of all charges over the three years to February 1, 2011. In comparison, the Investment Management Association's Property sector returned on average -7.11% over the same period. The Fund outperformed all UK property-focused funds and its performance would also have positioned it in the top quartile overall.

Bill McClintock, Chairman of HPC, comments, "The Fund's strong performance is testament to its investment strategy. The UK property sector has experienced extreme volatility since the bubble burst at the end of 2007 and the future is still unclear. But even in this environment we are able to pinpoint opportunities at deep discounts and secure good yields while positioning the Fund well for a market recovery."

The Fund, which has a gross rental yield since launch of around 4.7%, allows investors to participate in the UK residential and commercial property market without the issues of managing a diverse property portfolio. As a result of having bought properties at significant discounts throughout the downturn of the last three years, the fund has minimized negative equity risk and the liquidity problems that have beset many other property funds.

The Fund is managed by Horizon Asset Management and is available to both retail and institutional investors. It is an open-ended investment fund (Oeic) domiciled in the Cayman Islands and invests in both residential and commercial property, including distressed portfolios, high yield rental units, development opportunities, leasebacks and reversionary gains schemes.

The minimum investment in the BPOF is US $100,0000, or currency equivalent if an investment is made directly and US $5,000 if through an investment wrapper such as a platform, SiPP or PPB. Please note that as an offshore fund, the British Property Opportunities Fund is not listed in the IMA property sector.
