Blackstone raises largest real estate fund of all time

In 2015, Q1 saw another strong quarter for private equity real estate fundraising, with $29 bln (approx. €26.6 bln) raised. More than three-quarters of the capital raised in the quarter was by just three firms however, and the number of funds closing fell.
Blackstone Group closed the largest ever closed-end real estate fund with $14.5 bln (approx. €13.3 bln) in capital.
Just 24 funds closed in Q1 2015 compared with an average of 52 funds closing each quarter in 2014 and 62 each quarter in 2013. The $14.5bln (approx. €13.3 bln)  of institutional capital (around €1.2 bln more is expected to be raised from retail investors) secured by Blackstone Group makes it the largest closed-end real estate fund ever raised, exceeding the $13.3 bln (approx. € 12.2 bln) raised for the prior fund in the series.
