Barcelona Meeting Point: New possibilities (ES)

The 15th edition of Barcelona Meeting Point, the only international and professional real estate exhibition in Spain, will take place from October 19 - 23, 2011. As part of the event's renowned international symposium, the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and Global Real Estate Institute (GRI) will present three special events.

Symposium 2010

A symposium session underway at last year's Barcelona Meeting Point.

ULI sessions
On Thursday, October 20, ULI will deliver two very interesting sessions on the challenges ahead for the shopping center industry. The first, from 12.00 – 13.00, moderated by Joe Montgomery, CEO of ULI Europe, will focus on the topic of 'Sustainability of investment in retail under the context of an accelerated evolution of the methods of consumption'.

Christophe Mouton, CEO, Corio Spain, will be the keynote speaker and will look at how to anticipate the evolution of methods of consumption to conceive centers which correspond to the expectations of today as well as tomorrow.

The second ULI-organized event, 'Why I want to be a re-developer', takes place from 17.30 – 19.00, with Glen Aaronson, former CEO of Multi Corporation, as the keynote speaker. This session, also moderated by Joe Montgomery, will examine the challenges for the retail developer to become the retail re-developer, how to focus years of experience and drive innovation to recreate many of the current shopping center offers.

GRI session
Also taking place on Thursday October 20 from 10.00 - 11.15, GRI has organized 'Spain, on the investors' spotlight: trick or treat?' This panel discussion, moderated by Henri Alster, Chairman of GRI, will focus on what's going on in Spain when it comes to both institutional and opportunistic mega-deals in a troubled, but still long-term promising market.

"This year's Barcelona Meeting Point promises to offer even more variety in events and exhibitors with four 'Clusters' or 'Exclusive Areas' for professional networking to help delegates get the most out of their time here," says Enrique Lacalle, Chairman of Barcelona Meeting Point.
