Ardoe house sold to property investor (UK)

Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, one of the UK's largest independent leisure groups, has completed a £400 million-plus deal with the sale of 24 of its UK hotels including Ardoe House near Aberdeen.

The hotels have been bought by property investor Moorfield Real Estate Fund. Details of the exact value of the sale are not being disclosed.

The four-star Ardoe House Hotel, situated in over 30 acres of ground about four miles south-west of Aberdeen, has recently undergone extensive refurbishment and added new bedrooms and an extension to its leisure club.

The deal will see the hotels continuing to be run by Macdonald Hotels & Resorts under a short-term management contract, with Macdonald bidding for the long-term contract alongside two as yet unnamed international hotel companies.

The properties are full service hotels located across the UK and provide a total of 2,511 rooms plus conference and leisure facilities. More than 20, although not Ardoe House, have been on the market for about a year.
