António Gil Machado joins IPD in Portugal (PT)

António Gil Machado will join IPD with responsibility for managing the existing IPD service in Portugal and developing IPD's business in Brazil, with effect from April 2, 2012.

Gil Machado graduated in Economics at the Oporto University and completed a post-graduate degree in Marketing at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. He is the founding director of a major Portuguese professional real estate magazine Vida Imobiliária which is a comprehensive media plataform for real estate in the Portuguese-speaking world, revealing the most relevant news, updates and information about the real estate players in the property industry in Portugal, Brazil, Angola and Mozambique.

Gil Machado is also Deputy Chair of the ULI (Urban Land Institute) in Portugal, a visiting teacher at the Oporto University and a Fellow of RICS.

Laurent Ternisien, Global CEO at IPD, said: "I am very pleased to announce that we have now taken the full control of our Portuguese operation and that António is now employed part time by IPD in charge of Portugal and also our Brazilian developments".

Gil Machado will work alongside Luis Francisco in IPD's Southern European team and he will be a member of the IPD Southern Europe board.

The management of the Lisbon Prime Index will be transferred to IPD. This service, created in 1998, showing a 14-year history, and developed in partnership with the main brokers in Lisbon, keeps a record of all the transactions and the offers in the market, similar to IPD's Immostat service in France.

This agreement will allow IPD to develop its business in Brazil after the initial steps taken in the last two years which are very promising.

António Gil Machado, Director Portugal & Brazil, IPD added: "I am delighted to join IPD as Director of IPD Portugal and Brazil, after 10 years of a successful working relationship. My new role at IPD will allow collaboration with a broader outlook, including adding Brazil to the list of markets measured by IPD."

Gil Machado will continue to develop in parallel his activities related to the publishing business with Vida Imobiliária in Portugal, Brazil and Angola. He is also a member of the board of the company that owns the Portuguese Residential Index Confidencial Imobiliário.
