ANREV reaches 100 member milestone (HK)

ANREV, the Asian Association for Investors in Non-listed Real Estate Vehicles, welcomed Composition Capital Partners as its 100th member in January. The boutique fund of funds manager joins other investors, fund managers and advisors and marks a milestone in the Association's development, with membership almost doubling from 53 to 100 members in the last 12 months.

"ANREV has made excellent progress in providing vital market information to our industry, as well as promoting industry standards," said Erwin Stouthamer, Managing Director and founder of Composition Capital Partners, which launched Asia's first real estate fund of funds in 2005.

"These initiatives help to improve industry standards and transparency for the Asian non-listed property markets, helping investors make better informed investment decisions with benchmarks in the region.

"This clearly is a great initiative; with European and Asian industry practices moving in the same direction, it is going to be much easier for institutional investors to do their job".

The milestone of 100 members also enables the Association to increase its range of activities and initiatives for members. "ANREV represents a solid base of industry participants, which gives us the mandate and collective expertise to move forward with important tools for the industry, such as a fees study and the development of a performance measurement tool for the region," said Nicholas Loup, Chairman of ANREV and Chief Executive of Grosvenor Asia-Pacific.

"The growth is also attributable to ANREV's clear focus on the private funds industry, which allows us to concentrate on providing the right output for this rapidly growing part of the market," said Loup.

ANREV has seen increased activity in the last 12 months in key markets such as Australia, Japan and Korea in addition to its earlier core markets of Hong Kong and Singapore.

In 2011, ANREV will continue to promote the INREV Guidelines in the region and has already successfully begun a series of related training courses to provide practical support to members. Its research initiatives include the development of the ANREV Index, a performance measurement tool for the region, and it will add to its existing research program with the first Management Fees & Terms study for the region.

"ANREV will continue to focus on research, professional standards and other initiatives for the region. In addition, our work with INREV will also help us provide regional comparisons for our research initiatives reflecting the broadening needs of our members," said Jeremy Stewardson, Executive Director, ANREV. "We welcome Composition Capital Partners to the membership and look forward to more companies joining in 2011 to support the growth of the industry."
