Andel's Lodz receives three awards for architecture, design and development (AT/PL)

Half a year after its grand opening, the andel's Hotel in Lodz, Poland, has received three awards in the fields of architecture, design and development. In early November, Warimpex Finanz- und Beteiligungs AG and Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG (VI), together with the architects Jestico + Whiles and OP Architekten, were thrilled to accept the 'Architecture of the Year – Conversion of an Existing Building to Hotel Use' distinction at the 12th European Hotel Design Awards 2009 in London.

Also last week, the first four-star hotel in Lodz was chosen as 'Best Hotel Development' and 'Best Development Overall' by CIJ, the CEE real estate magazine, at a ceremony in Warsaw. In particular, the hotel was distinguished for the conversion of an existing historic building into a hotel and for its outstanding design.

"These awards are a recognition of our efforts and of the excellent work of our architects. The andel's Lodz is one of our showcase projects; after all, as a hotel developer, it is not often that we have the opportunity to combine old with new in such a way. I am proud that we took on and successfully mastered the challenge and I thank each of the members of the jury," Warimpex CEO Dr. Franz Jurkowitsch said of the awards.

The Polish hotel market is proving to be dynamic and open to innovation, something that is clearly reflected in the comments of the guests of the andel's Hotel Lodz. "Important international awards can help shape the future in Poland. Quality architecture is a driving force behind hotel reservations, especially in the urban sector. Thanks to the outstanding design and the internationally experienced and renowned architects, we were able to dazzle with several innovations and above all we can offer individuality," says Rudolf Tucek, CEO Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG.
