AMB Property Corporation leases 18.300 m² in Hamburg development (DE/NL)

AMB Property Germany GmbH, an affiliate of AMB Property Corporation(NYSE:AMB), a leading global developer and owner of industrial real estate, has announced the lease of nearly 90% of the recently developed state-of-the facility adjacent to the Altenwerder terminal in the Port of Hamburg. B2B International Network AG has signed a lease for approximately 10.300 m² of distribution and office space and Unisped, who currently occupies approximately 15.300 m² of the facility, has signed for an additional 8.000 m ².

"As Europe's second largest port and Germany's most important hub for rail cargo, the Port of Hamburg is a crucial location for companies active in the German logistics sector," said Mo Barzegar, AMB's managing director, Europe. "We recognize our customers' need for a location with strong land and waterway transport links to the European hinterland and we continue to actively execute our strategy in order to provide them the best quality product."

B2B, a logistics company focused on fulfillment and Supply Chain Management, will use the facility as their full-service logistics center where they will handle a wide range of electronic goods. Unisped is a German logistics service provider specialized in food product distribution.

"Hamburg-Altenwerder is a top location for a worldwide logistics service provider such as B2B," said Baki Kalyoncu, CEO of B2B. "Its proximity to Container Terminal Altenwerder and other of the port's terminals saves us time and expense, such as lower trucking costs." B2B plans not only offer classical contract logistics from its center at Altenwerder, but will also offer a wide variety of value added services, such as packing and labeling, to their customers. "Our business has benefited from the efficiency of the Altenwerder facility," said Thomas Luba, managing director, Unisped. "In fact, we have been so impressed with the quality of this Class A building that we have signed a lease for additional space."

With immediate proximity to the Container Terminal Altenwerder, the Altenwerder rail spurs and the A7 motorway, the facility to be branded as AMB Altenwerder Distribution Center 1, provides multimodal access to its customers. The building, which was developed by Ixocon in accordance with AMB's specifications, was purchased by AMB upon completion. Ixocon and AtisReal acted as advisors during the leasing and marketing process.

"We are pleased to be able to offer our customers high-quality and flexible distribution space at our facility," said Peter Schuijlenburg, VP, general manager, Germany. "Our expanding local team of logistics real estate experts looks to meet the demand of our target customers in the German distribution market." In Germany, the company serves customers with approximately 167,000 m² in facilities concentrated at the Port of Hamburg, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt International Airport. AMB recently opened a Frankfurt office to further serve its business in Germany.
