AMB Property Corporation expands presence at Port of Rotterdam (NL)

AMB Property Europe B.V., an affiliate of AMB Property Corporation, has announced the acquisition of more than 13,000 m² of logistics space at the Port of Rotterdam. AMB Eemhaven Distribution Center 3 is fully leased to a European logistics provider, and is located in the Distripark Eemhaven, which specializes primarily in the storage and distribution of high-quality products. DTZ Zadelhoff acted as the broker in this transaction.

"The Port of Rotterdam is Europe's largest logistic and industrial hub. With a total throughput of 9.7 million TEU's in 2006, Rotterdam is the largest port in Europe and the seventh largest port worldwide in container volume. Being the gateway to a European market of 450 million consumers makes it a target market for AMB's European expansion," commented Mo Barzegar, AMB's managing director, Europe. AMB's portfolio of operating and development properties in the Netherlands totals approximately 215,000 m², of which more than 66,400 m² is located in the Port of Rotterdam.

The property is located at the southwest end of Distripark Eemhaven, close to AMB's existing assets, AMB Eemhaven Distribution Centers 1 & 2. It is easily accessible by the A15 highway, connecting to the Rhine region of Germany; and is proximate to the A4 highway, which connects The Hague to Amsterdam and the A29, connecting Rotterdam to Antwerp and the rest of Belgium. The Distripark Eemhaven has direct access, by way of the highway overpass, to the European Container Terminal (ECT). Due to a convergence of sea, rail and road connections, this location serves both Dutch distribution locations and the rest of Europe. The location has attracted international logistics providers such as VAT Logistics, Maersk Logistics, Menlo Worldwide, Geodis Vitesse, and Nippon Express.
