AMB announces development of 40,600-m² distribution facility in Belgium (BE/NL)

AMB Property Europe B.V., an affiliate of AMB Property Corporation®, a leading global developer and owner of industrial real estate, has announced that it has begun, together with the Belgian real estate development company DePaepe Group, a development of a multi-tenant logistics facility in Boom, Belgium. The facility, named AMB Boom Distribution Center, is expected to total approximately 40,600 m² upon completion, which is currently scheduled for the second quarter of 2008.

"Our customers, primarily third-party logistics providers, air and ocean freight forwarders, integrated shippers, and retail and consumer product companies, need distribution space in key locations along the supply chain. Consistent with our strategy to develop, own and operate in strategic markets, AMB entered the Belgium market in 2005 to meet this demand," said Mo Barzegar, AMB's managing director, Europe. "With the start of this development project, we look forward to offering our customers another well-located and state-of-the-art distribution space in this important distribution corridor." AMB's portfolio of operating and development properties in Belgium totals approximately 50,000 m².

"The De Paepe Group stands for quality with an eye for detail. It is not only the quality that is key to the selection of our partners, but also the use of architectural durable materials. In order to realize our goals, we place a great deal of importance on the reliable co-operation of our established vendors," said Ignace De Paepe, CEO and founder of the De Paepe group.

"The current building makes use of materials recycled from the former structure," added Anton van Vlerken, general manager, Benelux, for AMB. "Additionally it features a reservoir system which controls the release of collected rainwater into the public sewer system."

The multi-tenant distribution center, located in the Krekelenberg Industrial Park in Boom, has excellent connectivity to the economic centers of Brussels and Antwerp, as well as to the Brussels International Airport and the Port of Antwerp, which are within 20 kilometers of the site.
