AM NV has signed a contract with Commerz Grundbesitz-Investmentgesellschaft mbH (CGI) for the sale of the Espai Gironés shopping center in Girona, Spain. The 40,000 m2 shopping center, in which AM NV has invested around 125 million, opened to the public last week.
Espai Gironés, in Salt near Girona, on the A7 motorway, provides retail and leisure facilities, cinemas and restaurants, spread over 122 units on two floors, and parking for 2,500 cars. The centre expects to attract 12 million visitors a year.
AM growing in Spain
Espai Gironés is the second shopping center AM has built in Spain, after Espacio León which opened in October 2004. AM currently has other projects in preparation or under construction in Spain, in Madrid (El Cañaveral and Espacio Torrelodones), Cartagena (Espacio Mediterraneo), Coruña (Coruña) and Oviedo (Espacio Oviedo).
Quatrium Award
The Espai Gironés master plan was created by T+T Design, Gouda, AM's in-house design group, and the architects were Chapman Taylor, Madrid. On 16 June, the Quatrium Award for the most innovative shopping centre development in Spain is to be presented to AM for its Espai Gironés project.
