Altera to deliver 31 eco-friendly rental units in Sassenheim for BAM Wonen (NL)

Altera Vastgoed (Altera) recently took delivery of the properties built in the 1980s in Sassenheim from BAM Wonen following eco-friendly home upgrades.

This delivery represents the first project in the long-term partnership with BAM Wonen and comprises 31 rental units on Evert van Dijkpad and Parmentierpad in Sassenheim. Sustainability measures, including upgraded insulation and ventilation, will reduce gas consumption by 17,330m3 per year and annual CO2 emissions by 31,000kg. For residents, this will provide a combination of greater living comfort and lower energy consumption, while also reducing estimated total housing costs. Tenants reported that the work went smoothly and that they felt an immediate improvement in levels of comfort.

The work consisted of fitting roof and ground insulation. The existing windows were replaced with triple glazing and the homes were fitted with a new balanced ventilation system with heat recovery (heat exchanger system).

Altera CIO Erwin Wessels: ‘We are marking a significant milestone in our sustainability strategy with the delivery of the properties incorporating sustainable home improvements in Sassenheim. This not only serves the interests of our tenants but also of the shareholders for whom we invest and of society as a whole. We are aware of our great responsibility when it comes to creating healthy environments that enhance people’s quality of life. We are currently preparing to make another 300 homes more sustainable across nine municipalities.’

BAM Wonen Deputy Director of Renovation Concepts Henry Jongerden: ‘We draw energy from seeing happy tenants in energy-efficient homes! Together with Altera, we will continue to make homes more sustainable and ensure a healthier and liveable future.’
