Altera begins work on Leiden redevelopment (NL)

Altera has started work on the Robijnhof redevelopment project located in Leiden. The existing residential and care centre for elderly persons, which is located in the De Mors area of the city, will be demolished by the developer and contractor De Nijs in order to make way for a new project that will be built in several phases. The scheme will offer 119 rental homes (24 of which will be social rental homes) that are suitable for ‘ageing in place’, as well as 79 underground parking spaces and three general storage areas for mobility scooters and bicycles. An intramural care complex with 40 psychogeriatric units will also be constructed. The new complex is being built according to the specifications of Libertas Leiden, which will be leasing the complex on a long-term basis. The first residential units are scheduled for completion in the summer of 2021.

Jaap van der Bijl, CEO of Altera commented: "The plans have recently been further optimised in collaboration with De Nijs and the architect LEVS. The requirements of the municipality and local residents have also been integrated into the plans. The project’s target group, excellent location and high level of sustainability all mean that it fits perfectly into our housing portfolio. The new residential units will give older persons the opportunity to live affordably and independently in a pleasant, high-quality environment, and to receive domiciliary care when they need it."
