Alinso Group inaugurates its first independently managed Inter-Modal Railway Terminal (RO)

Alinso Group announces the official inauguration of Allianso Terminal in Ploiesti, the first independently managed Inter-Modal Railway Terminal in the region. The terminal will be operated in partnership with Rail Cargo Austria.

The new terminal is already fully operational and will be marked by the departure of the first regular train. Several regular trains have already been scheduled for the coming weeks. The first phase of the project incurred an investment of around €7 million with focus on cutting edge technology and environment friendly solutions.

The total project will be 10 ha with a storage capacity of 5,000 TEU and 2.2 km of rail track length.

"We are delighted that we finalized the first phase of Allianso Terminal. We are proud that our terminal started with regular train operations and we are convinced that Allianso Terminal will contribute to Romania's economic and industrial development this by supporting environmental friendly traffic.

"Thanks to its strategic location, several industrial and logistic companies already use or expressed their interest to use Ploiesti as their main logistic hub for South Eastern Europe," stated Ivan Lokere, CEO Alinso Group.

Allianso Terminal is ideally placed at the junction of the most important road and rail transport routes in Romania, creating the link between the Eastern and Western parts of the country including harbors on the Black Sea. Moreover, the terminal provides strategic access to major corridors in Western Europe.

As a leading railway operator, Rail Cargo Austria sees the advantages of strengthen the logistic hub in Ploiesti to serve South Eastern Europe and facilitating traffic from the Middle East, Turkey and Western Europe.

"We want to offer an attractive, sustainable rail service portfolio with the goal of actively shifting transports from road to rail and bringing new rail transports to Romania," said Erik Regter, Board Member of Rail Cargo Austria.

"The first finalized phase of the project has 19,500 m², a railtrack length of 1130 m and a total storage capacity of 1028 TEU. The terminal's facilities include: security 24/7, CCTV, customs services, container freight station, container repair station, fuel station, car and truck parking.

"Several companies in the region were looking for an intermodal transportation hub in Prahova and therefore we decided to implement this terminal," says Petrica Usurelu, JV partner of Alinso Romania.

Allianso Terminal in Ploiesti will act as a hub for cargo delivered by standard TEU containers (both normal and temperature-controlled) and unitized bulk cargo.
