Aedes Group appoints new managing directors (IT)

The Aedes Group has appointed Marco Leone to be the new managing director of Aedes BPM Real Estate SGR and Marco Beccati to be the new managing director of Aedes Project. Mr. Leone and Mr. Beccati are two important figures for the group, both in terms of property fund management and of real estate services.

Aedes BPM Real Estate SGR
Marco Leone was born in Milan in 1965, got a decree in business and economics from Università Bocconi in Milan, and gained extensive experience in the Italian real estate industry.

Since 2002, he has been at the helm of the real estate funds and financing unit for Sai Investimenti SGR (a member of the Fondiaria-Sai group), while previously he worked for BNL Fondi Immobiliari SGR as head of the investments area and as fund and project manager, where he gained a wealth of experience in real estate funds and in the field of structuring seeded funds (Patrimonio Uno and FIP), as well as semi-open funds for the retail market(Dinamico).

From 2001 to 2002, he was director of sales for Telemaco Immobiliare, an investment vehicle owned by Beni Stabili, Telecom Italia, and Lehman Brothers, where he was responsible for developing and selling corporate properties in a portfolio worth some 1.5 bln. Prior to that, he had gained experience in the valuation and advisory fields.

For Aedes BPM Real Estate SGR, Leone will be responsible for managing the three real estate funds currently in the companys portfolio, for a total assets under management of €343 million, and namely: Investietico, a publicly listed, closed-end real estate investment fund; Dante Retail, a seeded, closed-end real estate investment fund specialized in retail properties; and Virgilio, a seeded, closed-end real estate fund specialized in the tourist industry.

The portfolio is also to be joined by two real estate funds which have recently been authorized by the Bank of Italy and which are soon to become operational, i.e. Boccaccio, a closed-end real estate fund specialized in retail properties, and Petrarca, a closed-end real estate fund specialized in office properties.

Aedes Project
In order to strengthen the groups project management segment, Aedes Project operations will now be led by Marco Beccati, born in 1956 and with a degree in mechanical engineering from Università di Torino. Beccati comes from an extensive background in key roles within the FiatEngineering group.

Most recently, he was the technical director for MarieEngineering (formerly FiatEngineering) responsible for the companys civil and industrial business unit, where he followed a number of important projects both in the service industry (construction of the IBM office building in Segrate and the refurbishment of Ferraris Esperienze department) and in the civil sector (construction of the new Palavela building and the MOI Olympic village for the Turin 2006 winter games).

Previously, he was managing director of Transfima (a joint venture between FiatEngineering and Siemens Transportation Systems) during the years in which the company built the first automatic subway system (i.e. with no conductor) in Turin, using French automatic light vehicle (or VAL) technology, which became operational in February 2006.
