Abercrombie and Fitch comes to Dublin (IE)

Major US fashion and lifestyle retailer Abercrombie and Fitch has taken a lease at 34 College Green, a former banking hall building, in Dublin's city center. The letting is a boost to the Irish capital's growing international retail line-up.

The fashion giant's latest European store will occupy 2,500 m² across three floors and has been leased on a 10-year contract. Abercrombie and Fitch, which trade from 1,100 stores in the US, Canada and Europe, expect to open in Dublin in December, following a major refurbishment and fit out.

International real estate advisor Savills acted for Clarendon Properties who own the building, which is located directly opposite the main gates to Trinity College and near Grafton Street.

Larry Brennan of Savills Ireland, says: "The deal will come as a major boost to retailing in Dublin. Abercrombie and Fitch are joining an already impressive line-up of national and international fashion and lifestyle brands now trading here. Their decision to locate here was influenced by our strong tourist base, our young population demographic and the significant level of brand recognition that exists here".

A spokesperson for Clarendon Properties adds: "The store will be a very welcome addition to the Irish retail sector, representing a sign of the future which hopefully will give confidence to other retailers. It also represents a sign of confidence in Ireland and particularly in Dublin city center as a destination retail area."
