Work on the biggest building site in Hameln is proceeding according to plan: on Thursday 27 july 2006, Lord Mayor Klaus Arnecke has laid the first stone for the new Stadt-Galerie on the Pferdemarkt. Project partners Deutsche EuroShop and ECE are building a shopping galery with approx. 19,000 m² of retail space and approx. 500 parking spaces.

On three levels in the new Stadt-Galerie there will be around 90 specialized retailers, cafes and restaurants. Around 800 jobs will be created. Until the opening in spring 2008 up to 550 construction workers will be handling the €90 mln project. Already more than 60% of the retail space is let.
