During the Expo Real trade fair, the international shopping center specialist Sonae Sierra showed architectural models of three current projects in Romania, Germany and Italy. Sonae Sierra's team of experts presented interested parties its real shopping center worlds in miniature format and discussed them within the context of personal chats. The three projects are in various phases of completion and each represents special challenges in terms of development and construction.
Craiova Strong presence in Romania
A shopping center with 55,500 m² of space is being constructed in Craiova (Romania) by Sonae Sierra. The project represents an investment of 139.4 million and opens its doors in 2012. Sonae Sierra reinforces this way its presence in the Romanian market, where it arrived in 2007 with the acquisition of the centre River Plaza Mall.
Garbsen Finally a "center" for the town
From 2011, Sonae Sierra plans to construct the "Neue Mitte" shopping center in the town of Garbsen near Hanover. The project comprises 110 rental units and as a modern market place opposite the Town Hall building will provide residents with what they have been lacking for long now: a proper town center.
Le Terrazze An urban world on a former industrial site
Shopping at 125 fabulous stores on a former industrial estate this will become a reality with the Le Terrazze shopping center, which Sonae Sierra is constructing in partnership with ING Real Estate near La Spezia in Italy. The opening of the 39,100 m² (GLA) shopping center is planned for 2011.
Green shopping centers
All Sonae Sierra shopping centers are constructed in line with its Environmental Management System (EMS) guidelines. The objective of the company's Green Center concept is to minimize the environmental impact of building and operating new shopping centers.
