The Retirement Villages Group (RVG), the UK’s leading provider of luxury retirement communities, is about to commence the next phase of development at its Moat Park village in Great Easton, Essex.

As part of a £20m expansion and improvement programme being implemented at eight of its existing 14 villages,  the company has announced construction of nine two-bedroom dormer cottages at Moat Park following planning consent from Uttlesford District Council in December.

The programme also includes an extension to the existing Moat Park club house, introducing a sun room and extending the terrace, which will provide increased capacity to meet the needs of the additional residents.

Located near Great Dunmow, Moat Park retirement village currently comprises 26 private one and two bedroom apartments, and two three-bedroom cottages.  In addition, the club house, a key feature in the entire portfolio of villages, provides a community focus and services such as bar, dining area, lounge and library.   Moat Park also features a 72 bed care home, landscaped grounds and an ornamental lake.

In addition to its expansion and improvement programme, The Retirement Villages Group is also undertaking a £200m expansion programme to develop more than 500 new independent residential units and 120 care beds in the South East of England over the next five years, its largest development programme in its 35 years history.  In November last year, the company announced a brand new retirement village at Newport near Saffron Walden, which is located near to Moat Park, as part of the programme.

William Crawford, Group Development Director, The Retirement Villages Group, said: “As well as focusing on our extensive new development programme, we believe it is important that we invest in our existing villages, so that we will always deliver the highest market leading standards to our residents.  The expansion programme at Moat House will also ensure we can meet future demand for accommodation at this successful and established retirement village”.

The Retirement Villages Group is currently addressing pre commencement planning conditions at Moat Park, and construction is scheduled to start on site in March this year, with completion expected by March 2018.

The appointed contractor is Trendgrey.
