Richard Weberberger head of the property team Henderson Austria (UK/AT)

In a move to strengthen its European property offering Henderson Global Investors, the independent asset manager with 98.5 billion assets under management, has appointed Richard Weberberger as head of the property team based in Vienna, Austria.

Commenting on Mr Weberbergers appointment, Tim Horrocks, director of property portfolio management (Europe), says, "I am delighted that Richard is joining our team. With his profile and experience he will enhance our capability to select interesting investment opportunities. Our goal is to become a leading player in Continental Europe, leveraging off the huge background of competences available in the UK.Vienna has emerged as the pre-eminent hub for real estate investments in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region and it is our intention not only to strengthen our position in Austria but also to use Vienna as a gateway for future business in CEE."

Previously, Mr Weberberger was a managing director of Multi-ImmoEast Asset Management GmbH, where he launched an institutional property fund specialising in Central and Eastern European retail property with committed capital of €100 million and a target size of €500 million. With ImmoFinanz/ImmoEast Immobilien Anlagen AG, the leading investor in Austria and Central and Eastern Europe, Mr Weberberger was involved in over €600 million property investments in Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Rumania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, Ukraine and Russia. Prior to this he was with LaSalle Investment Management as Associate Director for European Investment Strategy in London.

He has a degree with honours from Vienna Universtiy of Technology, as well as a master degree specialising in Real Estate Investment from Harvard University. He is a charted management consultant.
