On September 23, 2015, the PRADO's groundbreaking ceremony took place in Marseille. This ambitious architecture, filled with light and transparency, features retailers on the cutting edge of trends for the people of Marseille, organised around a new concept for department store anchor Galeries Lafayette and offering exceptionally easy access.

In the fall of 2017, after the completion of a 35-month long project, the people of Marseille will discover the brand new PRADO, located near the beaches and the recently renovated Vélodrome stadium. Jointly developed by Klépierre (60%) and Montecristo Capital (40%), this 23,000 m² project will be the new benchmark in sustainable and hyper-connected urban retail.

Located near the Prado roundabout, the Vélodrome stadium, and the Parc des Expositions, the future shopping centre will boast unrivalled access: two stations connected to Line 2 of the subway, around ten bus lines, and a tunnel that links the three main freeways that serve the city, as well as 800 parking spaces. All of these features will help to draw the best global retailers around Galeries Lafayette, the retail anchor for this new premium shopping centre, covering 9,400 m².

Designed to look like an urban retail street by the renowned international architectural firm Benoy, the PRADO puts the wellbeing and comfort of shoppers first. It will showcase its retailers via iconic window dressings surrounded by spectacular volumes and will feature a vast planted rooftop and an immense glass canopy measuring 4,200 m² attesting to the importance of the project's environmental aspects and to the desire to make the centre a durable fixture in the city's landscape. In fact, PRADO is designed to meet the standard of excellence as defined by the BREEAM environmental performance rating system. The PRADO will also be the first shopping centre in France to take inspiration from the Cradle to Cradle® concept.
