P3 starts construction of second DHL Express hub Prague (CZ)

PointPark Properties (P3) has started construction of a 3,492 m² logistics facility for international shipping company DHL Express, a division of Deutsche Post DHL, at its PointPark Prague D8. This comes just a few weeks after P3 completed a similar-‐sized distribution hub for DHL Express at Bratislava Airport in Slovakia.

Thomas Berliner, Deutsche Post Corporate Real Estate CEE, said: “The project at PointPark Prague D8 is very important for our future business growth. In P3 we have found an innovative business partner that was focused on high performance at the Bratislava airport project, which was very critical for our business. During both projects, the teams from Deutsche Post DHL and P3 built up a great atmosphere of mutual trust and we look forward to further work with P3”. The PointPark Prague D8 warehousing and distribution facility will serve as DHL Express’ main hub for the Prague market, replacing an operation now based at the city’s airport. The development will consist of 2,704 m² of warehouse space and 788 m² of office space and will incorporate fully automated parcel sorting and handling systems.

The Park´s location allows easy access to Leipzig, Germany, where DHL Express’ central hub for the Central Europe region is located. The project, in which P3 and Deutsche Post Corporate Real Estate CEE are working together, is expected to be completed in April 2014. PointPark Prague D8 is located approximately 10 minutes from Prague City center, on Exit 1 off the D8 Highway that links Prague to Dresden and Berlin. The park now consists of four buildings totaling 67,640 m² and DHL will join tenants such as VF, Puma, PMP PAL, In Time Spedice etc. The D8 Park has full permits for an additional 60,000 m² of further warehouse development.

Peter Bečár, Managing Director Czech Republic and Slovakia for P3 said “DHL Express’ decision to relocate its Prague hub to PointPark Prague D8 is a reflection of the park’s excellent location and infrastructure. At the beginning of September our Slovak teams handed over the DHL Express airport hub in Bratislava and we will be able to put those teams’ knowledge of DHL Express’ needs to good use on the new project in Prague. DHL are now occupying our warehouses in several European countries including Germany. ”
