NCC to construct logistics building for SEK 300 million (SE)

NCC has been commissioned to construct a logistics building on behalf of Varner Retail. The project, at Trestad in Vänersborg, is worth SEK 300 million (approx. €33.4 million) and will be environmentally certified according to Breeam, at the Very Good level.

Varner Retail, which includes the Dressmann, Cubus, Bik Bok and Carlings retail chains, is to build a clothing warehouse. The building will be a total of 53,000 m², of which a high-stack warehouse with a height of 30 meters will account for 9,000 m² and low-stack warehouse space for the remainder. The warehouse will feature a high degree of automation.

The building will be certified according to according to BREEAM, the most widely recognized environmental-certification system in Europe. BREEAM is a tool for measuring and rating a building’s total environmental impact. The aim is that the logistics building will achieve a rating of BREEAM Very Good.

“By focusing on achieving a rating of Breeam Very Good, we will have to review the entire process and ensure a lower environmental impact, while simultaneously doing our utmost to deliver high quality,” says Svante Hagman, Business Area Manager, NCC Construction Sweden.

The project will be implemented on a turnkey basis, whereby NCC will be responsible for constructing the building, including earth works. The project will start immediately and employ about 80 individuals. The warehouse building will be ready for use in November 2015.

The assignment will be registered among orders during the second quarter of 2014 in the NCC Construction Sweden business area.
