NCC to construct environmentally compatible offices in Uppsala for € 62.5 mln (SE)

NCC has been commissioned to build offices that will house all of Uppsala University’s administrative staff. The client is Akademiska Hus AB, Region Uppsala. The order is worth SEK 570 mln (approx. € 62.5 mln). The personnel working with joint support functions at Uppsala University are currently dispersed among several locations in the city.
The joint support functions, including the management and administration office, will be brought together in the new building, Segerstedthuset.
“We hope that the new building will support our operations and facilitate greater interaction and more meetings,” says Ove Eriksson, Project Manager at Akademiska Hus. The 2,000 m² building will consist largely of administrative premises, but will also function as a meeting place for the entire university.
Segerstedthuset will comply with the requirements for the Sweden Green Building Council’s silver rating, with respect to energy consumption, indoor environment and materials selection. “We welcome the meticulous environmental and sustainability requirements, which will enable us, jointly with Akademiska Hus and Uppsala University, to capitalize on our sustainability know-how,” says Svante Hagman, Business Area Manager at NCC Construction Sweden.
The project will be implemented on a Partnering basis; a cooperative format whereby the key participants in a project jointly resolve issues arising in an assignment by means of an open dialog focusing on the best interests of the project.
Construction is scheduled to commence in October 2014 and be completed in February 2017. The transaction will be registered in the fourth quarter in the NCC Construction Sweden business area.
