Multi, Bouwinvest and Accor Hotels sign agreement for four-star Novotel in Forum Rotterdam (NL)

Multi has signed an agreement with Bouwinvest, on behalf of Bouwinvest Dutch Institutional Hotel Fund NV, for the sale of Accor Hotels’ four-star Novotel. Accor Hotels and Bouwinvest also signed the lease agreement for the hotel. The four-star Novotel is part of the multi-functional project Forum Rotterdam.

Forum Rotterdam is a revolutionary concept from Multi Vastgoed for an innovative and multifunctional new retail, residential, office, leisure and cultural project on Coolsingel, in the heart of Rotterdam city center. The striking, transparent design by Rem Koolhaas and Reinier de Graaf of OMA will make a recognizable and defining contribution to Coolsingel. The monumental bank building next door will be allocated a prominent role in the new plan, supervised by Wessel de Jonge architects.

For some time, it has been Accor Hotels’ ambition to establish itself with a four-star formula on Coolsingel and so strengthen its position in Rotterdam city center. For them, Forum Rotterdam is the location, partly because the Forum distinguishes itself through a diversity of functions, such as retail, office, residential and leisure and the synergy created through this.

“In signing this contract we are adding a unique, central location in Rotterdam city center to our Novotel portfolio. We are delighted that Accor Hotels is part of the ambitious plan to improve Rotterdam city center; a fantastic new possibility for Novotel to welcome with pride our business and tourist guests. This project connects seamlessly to Accor’s chosen growth strategy. Last year, we signed contracts for 5 new franchise hotels”, said Caro van Eekelen, Managing Director, Accor Nederland.

For Bouwinvest this is the second investment in the Forum Rotterdam project. Last year, Bouwinvest purchased 56 luxury rental apartments from Multi in Forum Rotterdam for Woningfonds. Allard van Spaandonk, Director Nederland Bouwinvest: “A hotel in the center of one of the four big Dutch cities with a strong tenant is exactly the product we’re seeking for our hotel fund. With cafes and restaurants, culture and business close by, this hotel is in the ideal location for both tourists as well as business guests.”

Heino Vink, CEO Multi: “It is important in these times that a number of important functions in a project are already sold and hired prior to the start of construction. In Forum, we have already succeeded in this. In addition to the sale of the apartments and the hotel, a large part of the office space is being leased to ABN AMRO”.
