MIPIM 2006: Sustainability - fad or fact?

Forum 15 March, 10.00-11.00
Auditorium A, level 3, Le Palais des Festivals

Pennsylvania Power & Lights green conversion may have given a simple energy payback in 4.1 years and a 24% return on investment, but an unexpected bonus was lower absenteeism and higher productivity which meant the real payback was just 69 days with an ROI of 540%!

Buildings can have a profound impact. They should enrich our well being and support business. They are a visible stamp of our culture and our journey towards sustainability.

The recent RICS report, Green Value, is part of that journey. Through 18 real-life case studies in the UK, Canada and the USA, it demonstrates the key drivers for practical sustainability illustrating the financial value of green buildings and how they can also contribute to genuine social and environmental value. Not only can they provide healthier and more productive places to live and work, they also have the potential to command higher rents and prices, attract tenants more quickly, reduce tenant turnover and cost less to operate and maintain.
