Marlon Huysmans, director of Sustainability by OVG, was chosen as the Real Estate Woman of the Year 2009, during the annual meeting of DWIRE which took place on November 26, 2009. She received the prize from Françoise Dechesne, director of MAB Development, who was Real Estate Woman of the Year 2008. Members of DWIRE nominated three women who had made an outstanding, important or special contribution to the Netherland's real estate market. In addition to Marlon Huysmans, Lonneke Wijnhoven, head of Design & Development by Heijmans Vastgoed & Woningbouw and Lisette van Doorn, CEO by INREV were also nominated.
Marlon Huysmans received the most votes from DWIRE members and was presented with a special award in the form of an art photo during the award presentation. Marlon is responsible by OVG for sustainable project developments, and the expansion of their current international leadership position, by offering sustainable real estate solutions. She has held this position since 2008.
The jury, comprised of Lia de Bruyn of Lia de Bruyn Interieurarchitecten, Maria Horfarter, Syntrus Achmea Vastgoed and Nel Hazendonk, Gemeente Zaanstad and Francoise Dechesne, MAB Development praised Marlon as a business woman who is putting sustainability on the map.
'Sustainability is no hype, but here to stay,' according to Françoise Dechesne,' if buildings and their environs are not thought out, designed and built from this point of view, then there is no place for you in this sector.'
DWIRE
DWIRE is a woman's network for women who work in the in the (commercial) real estate sector. The network was initiated in June 2007 and currently has around 450 members. Activities are organized to talk, to exchange information, attend presentations, and have discussions or to take part in an excursion.
