Longchamp opens its first direct store in Russia (RU)

The first Longchamp store owned by the company is to open in the METROPOLIS mall in Moscow. The French fashion house offering premium leather goods and accessories, leased 100 m² space for its store; JLL advised on the deal.

A Longchamp franchise boutique is already located in METROPOLIS. Having changed the owner, the store will be modified to occupy more space and imply an interior design reflecting the latest European and global trends. The opening is scheduled for August 1, 2014. The re-set store will endorse the new concept of METROPOLIS mall built around the premium brand fashion gallery with retailers’ debut stores in Russia.

Julien Jolly, General Manager, Longchamp Russia, said: “The launch of Longchamp’s first direct boutique in Russia along with the local subsidiary set-up is a milestone in the brand expansion. We think this step leads us to wider opportunities – we’ll now have greater ability to increase the local market share and also to develop and manage our stores in a more efficient way. Driven by our customer requirements and eager to provide shoppers with the best collections of the Longchamp House, we intend to strengthen the company position and increase sales here in the Russian market.”

The Longchamp story began in 1948, and now the company owns more than 265 brand boutiques all over the world. The brand entered the Russian market in 2002 with its famous bags first, and then opened the first franchise store in 2007. At present there are three brand shops in Russia, including two in Moscow and one in St. Petersburg. Longchamp goods are also available in duty free shops in Sheremetyevo and Pulkovo airports, and in several multi-brand stores.

In February 2014 Longchamp set-up its new subsidiary in Russia. It will help the company to operate directly in the dynamic Russian market.

METROPOLIS mall is located on Leningradskoe Highway, near the Voykovskaya metro station, in the North-West district of Moscow. The scheme’s GBA is 205,000 m², GLA is 82,000 m². The Metropolis parking capacity is 2,800 car spaces.
