Land Securities appoints new Chairman (UK)

Land Securities announces that Alison Carnwath (55), currently Chairman of M F Global and a Non-executive Director of Land Securities since September 2004, will become the new Chairman with immediate effect.

This follows the resignation of Paul Myners on 3 October after his appointment as a Government Minister.

Commenting on her appointment Alison Carnwath said: "It is a privilege to have been asked to take over this role. In the relatively short time Paul Myners was Chairman, Land Securities enhanced its reputation as industry leader, remained focused on how best to deliver long-term and sustainable returns for shareholders while maintaining its reputation as being the company that people want to do business with.

"Land Securities has a talented management team who are working hard to address the effects on our business of these unprecedented challenges in the market. I look forward to leading the Board through these turbulent times and shaping the business for the future."

The search for the replacement was led by Senior Independent Director, David Rough, who commented: "It was with sadness that the Board accepted Paul Myners' resignation for his new role as a Government Minister and I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all he has done since joining us in September 2006.

"Given the strength of our Board, we were well positioned to make an internal appointment. Alison has a tremendous reputation and has demonstrated a thorough understanding of the business and the sector since her time on the Board. We all look forward to working with her."
