'K in Lautern' will be the name of the new shopping gallery in Kaiserslautern, which is scheduled to open in fall 2014. ECE announced the name at the real estate fair EXPO REAL in Munich.
Construction of the shopping center is scheduled to start in spring 2013.
A model of the center has been presented at the fair as well. ECE and the city signed all required contracts and successfully completed the securing of the plot for the planned shopping center at the municipal area at the location of Karstadt / Altes Pfalztheater.
The new name of the shopping gallery refers to the popular abbreviation of the city's name Kaiserslautern the Americans based in the Ramstein Air Base called it 'K-Town'.
In prime downtown location, the construction of the shopping center with around 20,900 m² sales area plus 3,200 m² for services, gastronomy, and center management is scheduled to start in spring 2013.
Planned are around 100 shops and 490 parking spaces. Part of the project is the former Karstadt building with around 12,000 m² sales area. The investment volume amounts to more than 160 million.
