HOCHTIEF starts construction of mercatura quarter in Aalen (DE)

HOCHTIEF Projektentwicklung will begin construction of the urban quarter mercatura with a total of almost 27,000 m² of gross above-ground space.

In addition to the shopping arcade that will include shops for everyday needs as well as shops offering upscale products plus several restaurant businesses, there will also be space for service providers and offices. The plan also includes the realization of residential units with roof gardens on the green rooftops of mercatura. Almost 6,000 m² of the commercial space – that is almost 51% – is already under contract.

The sales space, approximately 11,500 m² in size, will create a location offering an extensive array of products and services: well-known brand names, among them New Yorker, Esprit, Street One and BONITA, will be represented, and there will also be a Schneider shoe shop and a Tamaris shop. The master tenant, leasing more than 1,900 m² of space, will be a large, German fashion company.

In the future, customers will be able to cover their needs for everyday products from a dm drugstore and also from Reformhaus Kaliss. Added to the range of services will be the hairdresser Frisör Klier and a Cosmo Friseurbedarf as well as an O² store. The public underground garage that will offer almost 400 parking places will be operated by B+B Parkhaus. At this time, the remaining existing buildings are being torn down. Underground construction is set to begin in early November. Mercatura will be completed in 2011.
