Heijmans starts construction of 338 homes in Leiden for €55 million (NL)

Heijmans will be building 178 apartments in Leiden North for housing association De Sleutels. Next this project, Heijmans is also building the housing and shopping area Het Plein in Leiden for De Sleutels. The total contract value for both plans is more than €55 million.
At the Van Voorthuijsen location, Heijmans will be building apartment complex De Prinsenhoek for De Sleutels. De Prinsenshoek comprises of 178 rental apartments, an underlying garage and a roof garden. The apartment complex is situated at the intersection of Gooimeerlaan and Willem de Zwijgerlaan in Leiden North. In the construction team Heijmans is responsible for realization within the stipulated technical quality and budget. Completion is planned for the second quarter of 2016.
In sectional area 3, alongside the present De Waaier complex, Heijmans is building 35 apartments for De Sleutels. The apartments and accompanying parking spaces in the underlying garage are being realized in the social rental sector. Construction has already begun. Completion is expected in the second quarter of 2015.
In sectional area 5, near Surinamestraat, Heijmans is building 125 homes and apartments, a parking garage and 3,300 m² of non-residential property.
Within the total of houses, a purchase agreement for 55 homes has been signed with De Sleutels. Heijmans signed an agreement for the purchase of 50 starter apartments with a private investor. Heijmans is also building 20 homes for the private market. Construction on sectional area 5 will begin this autumn. The total renovation of Het Plein in Leiden North will be accomplished around 2019.
The developments in Leiden underline the strength of Heijmans as an inner-city area developer.
