Heijmans and ING Real Estate to develop Turfschip site in Breda (NL)

Novaprojecta, an alliance between Heijmans Vastgoed (50%) and ING Real Estate (50%), will develop the former Turfschip site in Breda. The project will consist of the development and construction of 95 homes and an underground car park, 12,350 m2 of commercial property including a cinema and a fitness centre and 19,000 m2 of parking facilities for over 600 cars. The project will require an investment of approximately €55 million. This inner city area development fits in with Heijmans' full service strategy.

The approximately 1 hectare site is located in the town centre of Breda and known locally as the former multi-purpose complex, the Turfschip. The site was acquired in 1998. An important part of the development is reserved for the combination of living, working and recreation. Sports, relaxation and parking facilities will be created in response to the needs of the surrounding area. The plan includes a 7-screen cinema complex, a 2,000-m2 fitness centre, 1,000 m2 for catering facilities and 3,200 m2 of office space. The project will be carried out by Heijmans Bouw and Infra. It will start in September 2006 and is expected to be completed at the end of 2008.
