Hammerson appoints Timon Drakesmith as CFO following retirement of Simon Melliss (UK)

The Board of Hammerson plc has announced that Simon Melliss, Chief Financial Officer, will retire on June 30, 2011. Simon will be 59 in July this year, and has been with Hammerson since 1991. He was appointed CFO in 1995.

Timon Drakesmith, currently Finance Director of Great Portland Estates plc, has been appointed as CFO of Hammerson with effect from the end of May 2011.

John Nelson, Chairman of Hammerson, said: "I would like to thank Simon for his enormous contribution to Hammerson over the last 20 years. He has played a central role as a Board member and as part of the senior management team. Simon is one of the longest serving Finance Directors in the FTSE; a reflection of his dedication and ability. We wish him all the best for the future. I am delighted to welcome Timon Drakesmith as his successor."

David Atkins, Chief Executive, said: "Simon has made a tremendous contribution to Hammerson over a 20-year period. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with him, and valued his support since becoming Chief Executive in 2009. I am delighted that Timon Drakesmith is to become our new CFO.
