Goodman to develop logistics property for Tupperware (DE)

Goodman Group will develop a new logistics center in Eppertshausen in the Rhine-Main area of Germany for Tupperware Deutschland GmbH on a seven-year lease agreement. The development is on schedule for completion in time for Tupperware's 50th anniversary, with construction to commence in October, and handover of the new facility expected to take place in May 2012.

The development will consist of 17,000 m² of warehouse space with 900 m² of office area.

The development will consist of 17,000 m² of warehouse space with 900 m² of office area on an approximately 29,500-m² site. Tupperware will rent 9,500 m² of warehouse and 400 m² of office space. On completion, the value of the development is expected to be €10 million.

The additional site area available provides Goodman with the opportunity to develop a speculative 7,500-m² warehouse, with 500 m² of office area and seven dock doors, which would suit a logistics or manufacturing company.

The Rhine-Main area is an ideal logistics hub for Tupperware Germany. By relocating its existing logistics center from Messel to Eppertshausen, the company is able to meet the increasing customer demand for its products. All 30 members of staff from the Messel site will be moved to the new central warehouse.

"After more than 40 years of continuous growth, a point was reached at which Tupperware needed to make a decision for a new building in Eppertshausen, for process and optimization reasons," said Udo Leicht, Logistics Manager of Tupperware Deutschland GmbH.

Tupperware will rely on Goodman's expertise in the planning and construction of the new logistics center.

"During a detailed and careful selection process, we selected the market leader to develop our new facility. Goodman was able to present us with the ideal combination of a sustainable logistics property and a high level of project experience," said Udo Leicht.

"Right from the outset, Goodman was a competent and professional project partner for Tupperware for the new construction of the Eppertshausen logistics center," he said.

For Tupperware, the careful and sustainable handling of natural resources was essential to the decision. Goodman is seeking silver certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

"For us, the Rhine-Main area is one of the regions in which we have a strong focus for new investments. We are therefore delighted with this project and our new relationship with Tupperware," said Andreas Fleischer, Goodman Country Manager for Germany.

"Because we believe strongly in the location we decided to construct the building to be larger from the outset. There is a strong demand for logistics space in the region, and we are confident that we will be able to achieve full occupancy in the not too distant future," he said.
