Goodman delivers phase one of warehouse to Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in Hanover (DE)

Goodman and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has celebrated the handover of the first section of the new VW logistics center in the Schwarze Heide commercial area of Hanover.

Jörg Bode, Lower Saxony Minister for the Economy, Labor and Transport; Mayor Stephan Weil and representatives from the world of politics and economics will attend the event where they will be briefed on the progress of the development.

The first part of the logistics center comprises 10,000 m² and is now fully operational. Completion of the 45,000 m² property is planned for as early as March, when it will take over the production supply for the new Amarok pickup model. All of the automotive parts for the Amarok model will be stored at the new warehouse.

Goodman purchased the 83,000 m² site in the “Schwarze Heide” industrial area, in order to develop the logistics property in an easily accessible location with a connection to the A2 and A 352 as well as to Hanover Airport and the north harbor.

"We are delighted to hand over the first section of the warehouse to Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. This project is extremely significant for us and to date has been a great success with the strong support of the team on site. Naturally, we also hope that this logistics center is the beginning of long-term co-operation with Volkswagen," said Andreas Fleischer, Goodman Country Manager for Germany.

Karl-Heinz Hüninghake, Head of Logistics for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles also emphasizes the benefits of the cooperation: "Amarok production at the Hanover plant will begin in the late summer of 2012. We are very pleased with the ongoing progress of the development and with Goodman running on schedule the logistics center will be ready for production to commence on time."”

The development was acquired by Goodman European Logistics Fund (GELF) at the end of 2011.
